INSTALLATION

Unzip this file to the drive where MSTS is located (normally drive C:). This will create the directory

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\TRAINS\TRAINSET\Common.Cab\Generic Eng Cabs\GE U-boat

1.First and most important BACKUP and I do mean BACKUP the folder of the engine that you want to use this cab in. If you don't do this first SHAME ON YOU!!

2.In the sub-folder "Alias cvf" of this file are four cvf files

Uboat.cvf Low nose version

Uboat-hn.cvf High nose version

3.Choose one of the files in step 2 and copy it into the cabview folder of the engine you want to use this cabview in. You have the option of deleting all other files in this folder if you wish. If your engine does not have a Cabview folder then create one and then copy the cvf file(s) into this folder.

4.Now the tricky part. Open up the *.eng file with an ASCII text editor such as Wordpad or ConText (which I personally recommend). Look for the following line CabView (I high lighted this line in blue)

      NumWheels ( 1 )

	MaxTemperature ( 120 )

	MaxOilPressure ( 90 )

 	CabView ( gp38.cvf )

	MaxDieselLevel ( 3600gal )

	DieselUsedPerHourAtMaxPower ( 60gal )

	DieselUsedPerHourAtIdle ( 10gal )

Replace the wording gp38.cvf (for example) with the name of the file you used in step 2.

       For example: CabView ( Uboat.cvf ) or ( Uboat-hn.cvf )

	SAVE THIS FILE

5.You might want to run an "Engine Check" first before using. ConBuilder and RouteRiter are good choices'

6.If you followed these steps then the engine should work with this new cab. If not you should delete the engine and restore it with the backup you hopefully did.

OTHER FEATURES:

If you plan on doing the following. Back Up your working folder first.

Included is an engine file which corrected quite a few problems with the original. Your option of using this file. If you do just copy this file into your working folder.

Also included are two right side views and two left side views. The default uses GE-RHW.ace and

GE-LHW.ace for the side views. These have the added side windows used in the early versions of this cab. If you wish to use the side views without the added windows the appropriate files are named

GE-RHW-late.ace and GE-LHW-late.ace. You have two options of using this version. You can either rename the "original" ace files from (for example) GE-RHW.ace to GE-RHW.bak and rename the

GE-RHW-late.ace to GE-RHW.ace. Do the same for the left side. The other option is to open the appropriate cvf file and look for all occurances of GE-RHW.ace and change it to GE-RHW-late. And again

Do the same for the left view. Your choice.

NOTES:

Depending on your eng file there is a possibility that not all functions will work with this cab.
