Chicago & Illinois Midland 2-8-2 Mikado #551
Model by Conn McCarthy. (See orig. Readme)
Re-worked textures and re-paint by Frank Burns
Cabview is aliased to the SCOTSMAN
Copy the SOUNDS folder from the SCOTSMAN folder to the created CIMmikado folder. I suggest copying the whistle sounds from the Empire State Express. 2 Mikado consist files are included. You will need the "CIMhopper" from the MOPHOUSE file library for these consists. It was the kind of hopper that this locomotive was used primarily to haul. The C&IM owned several hundred of these hoppers and used them from about 1945 till now. These hoppers can still be seen throughout the old C&IM system and a lot of them still carrying their original numbers.
Put the 2 consist files in your CONSISTS folder so the engine will be ready to use.
This locomotive is still intact in a static display in Kirkwood , Mo. The C&IM had a reputation for keeping their steam power well maintained and "clean"...(well if you can keep a steam engine clean!) "Mikes" like 551 were all over the system, lending themselves to all kinds of duty..C&IM also owned some 2-10-2, and several 0-8-0 locomotives. This model represents the C&IM mikado in its glory days; the late30's to the early 50's and dieselization...Enjoy!
The entire C&IM rail system is still in use today as the "Illinois Eastern" and much of the original C&IM diesel power is still in use, including their "2 of a kind" RS1325 road switchers.
More C&IM stuff is forthcoming....from " The Paintgun". There is presently a C&IM SD9 and a C&IM SD38-2 available from my website: www.rememberthemop.com.
