MSTS Halliburton covered hopper set

Halliburton-built cement hoppers, or P-tanks HWCX 108, HWCX 115, HWCX 119. Empty and loaded versions of each.

Installation: Extract the ZIP file to your Trainset folder (folder HWCX_P_Tank will be created); place the cars in a consist.

Original shape and initial textures by George Mathews II. Texture modifications by L. W. Shell. Couplers by Bill Prieger. Braking, mass, friction values and bounding boxes adapted by L. W. Shell.

Models are based on photos by Jeff Guidry and Lee Gauteaux. Line drawings and logos furnished by Halliburton.

Each of these three cars is a cement hopper, and identified on equipment registers as a covered hopper, type LO. Each of the three tanks holds 800 cubic feet of cement, to be used in the completion of oil or gas wells. Halliburton built dozens of these cars as early as 1961; they could be seen in yards and spurs near their facilities, at cement plants, and on the rails between cement plants and Halliburton facilities. These cars could be seen in many places across the country, but were perhaps more numerous in Oklahoma and the south. They were normally loaded and unloaded through the 5" lines that run along the carbody, using 50 psi to assist the process. This relatively high pressurization led to these tanks being called "P-Tanks".

These cars are high-poly and are somewhat resource hungry. These cars been tested successfully on a variety of computers new and not-quite-so-new. We do not recomend their use on minimally-equipped or older desktops, nor on computers with integrated graphics.
Please report any problems, suggestions, requests, etc. to L. W. Shell.
