GE B30-7 Norfolk Southern Set **updated** #3520 & trailing units #3513, #3501 for Microsoft Train Simulator UPDATED - March 6, 2006 By Diesel-West Copyright 2006 - Diesels-West www.dieselswest.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Although the Norfolk Southern ran many of their locomotives 'long hood forward,(and had their cab control stand reversed in the cab), the B30-7's usually were seen running short hood forward throughout the '90's. Therefore, we remade the lead unit so that the lights would work when running short hood forward. The cab controls remain on the opposite side in the cab as is prototypical for the NS B30-7. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT: You must have the 'DASH9' folder in the 'TRAINSET' folder with all of it's sound files intact so that your new locomotive can use those sounds. If you altered the 'Dash9' folder, you will need get it from your Train Simulator Disk or reinstall Microsoft Train Simulator. If you want to check it, it should be here> ../Train Simulator/Trains/TRAINSET/DASH9/SOUNDS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation: 1.Extract the folders from this .zip into a temporary location. 2.Copy and paste,or click and drag, the locomotive folder(s) into your 'TRAINSET' folder > Programs/Microsoft Games/Train Simulator/trains/TRAINSET directory 3.Build your consist using the MSTS Activity editor. UNIT #3520 MUST BE THE LEAD LOCO FOR THE POWER SOUNDS TO THROTTLE UP CORRECTLY ON THE TRAILING UNITS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Locomotive information can be found by clicking the 'details' tab in Train Simulator All our locomotives come with the 1024x1024 textures TRAILING UNIT THROTTLE-UP SOUND INFO: THIS SET OF 3 LOCOMOTIVES (lead loco +2 trailing units) ARE A MATCHED SET. THE SOUNDS ARE DIFFERENT FOR EACH LOCOMOTIVE. THEY WERE MADE THAT WAY SO THAT 'IDENTICAL PITCH' INTERFERENCE DOES NOT OCCUR. RUNNING ONE TU LOCO OR ALL TU LOCOS WITH THE LEAD UNIT(3520) IS FINE BUT ADDING A 3RD DUPLICATE TU LOCO WILL CAUSE NOTICIBLE NOISE IN THE SIMULATOR. MID-TRAIN AND END-TRAIN HELPER SETS (two or more together) SHOULD ALSO BE ASSEMBLED USING UNIQUE TU LOCOMOTIVES. If you attempt to run a TU locomotive as the lead loco, the simulation will not load properly. That's why it must have a unique name like 'TU_SP7505' so you don't confuse them with other locos in the locomotive list of the activity editor.
